AFF Week 26.03-1.04, 2-8.04, 9-15.04, 16-22.04, 23-29.04

The AFF course starts with one full day of ground-training during which you will learn everything you need to know to complete your first solo skydive from 14,000ft.

Accelerated Freefall is the route to becoming a qualified skydiver.

Jumping begins on Day 2 with an introductory AFF-Tandem jump which is the perfect way to orientate yourself from the air and to better understand the landing pattern and procedures here at Skydive Algarve.

Then your skydiving experience continues with AFF Level 1. Accompanied by, but not attached to, two expert instructors you will carry out a series of freefall exercises you have been taught, then open, fly and land the parachute yourself.

Progressing through the levels you will perform a qualifying dive on Level 7 and a low altitude exit from 5,000ft on Level 8.

There is plenty of local accommodation, many with Skydiver rates and reasonable car hire rates to get you to and from Faro Airport (only 40 minutes away from the DZ).

For more information or to book on a course please contact our office info@skydivealgarve.com

FlySafe Canopy School 19-20.04DZ Events April'18

Our Active Piloting canopy course teaches you to be a pilot, not a passenger. Experience every control input your canopy has to offer, and learn to fly where you want to go in a range of wind conditions.

Try out precision turns and start playing with front risers up high to fully understand the speed your wing is capable of. Gain the tools to deal with difficult situations.

We’ll even have you trying out some crosswind landings! Learn how to use your body position to control the canopy and keep you safer at the same time. Improve your flying more than you thought possible.

You will leave a more capable and much more assertive canopy pilot. Fly with newfound confidence.

Emergency Scenario Training 6.04

You can never spend enough time practicing your emergency procedures. Once a month, we will be hosting sessions for experienced skydivers to practice their reserve drills, to talk about emergencies, to discuss incidents.

Whether you are newly qualified, or have hundreds (or thousands) of jumps over many years, these sessions might just save your life, when things hit the fan!

Any suggestions, or requests, email me (linleyewing@hotmail.com).

Meet in the bar, as with last years sessions, the format shall be relaxed, and hopefully encourages more open discussion.

B Licence Progression Day 14.04

We will be dedicating a Saturday to getting those all important B Licence briefs done.
These will include a comprehensive CH2 brief, we will cover JM1 briefs including spotting techniques, flightline checking, introduction to the BPA Operations Manual and teach you how to be a jumpmaster.

If the weather is good we will get some Hop’n’Pop jumps in to do the practical part of CH2, with video debriefs of your landings.

Packing Course 15.04

Want to learn how to pack your own parachute? Well now is your chance. You’ll spend a day with our packing team learning the steps needed to go and practice on your own. Once confident with your pack jobs you can come back and do the test. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t qualified yet, there is no better time to learn. Packing is part of your B Licence requirement.
Cost is £25 and to reserve your slot, message Pete Harries

Videoworkshop mit Sebastian Igel 14.04

Just put a camera on the helmet and go ??? It’s not that easy!DZ Events April'18

Our video seminar is suitable for beginners and advanced skydivers (RW and FF).

The seminar is intended for parachutists who want to learn video flying and photography in free fall or want to deepen their existing knowledge.

The video course includes a 2-3 hour theoretical block, in which the following topics are discussed.

Personal and material requirements according to AHB:

http://www.skydive-soest.de/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/AHB-Video.pdf

Fresh licensees who are not yet able to fulfill the requirements can still participate, the practical part then shifts to fulfillment of the requirements (please announce in advance!).

Be treated:

• Safety aspects

• Equipment (please bring to the theory part!)

• Fly with wing combination / jacket

• Screening

• Team shots (RW and FF)

• Tandem and AFF shots (according to experience and special pre-registration)

In the following practical part, the handling of another piece of equipment (video helmet) will be tested first, if necessary with a video combination.

Only then, depending on the level of experience, the participants film each other with corresponding tasks or are introduced to small teams.

The results are then shown and discussed in the group.

The number of participants is, depending on the interests of the participants limited to 6-8 participants, so if interested early on either Sebastian Igel on Facebook or

igelmail2002@yahoo.de    Sign in.

If you also have time for other workshop appointments, it would be nice if you announce that, so that we can maybe postpone something to satisfy all interested people 🙂

Please give your level of experience and the personal goals that you would like to develop in the workshop.

If all participants can already be on the landing field on Friday evening, the theory part will be relocated there, so that we can use the two weekends for jumping 🙂

Costs: € 100,00 + own jumps (+ Sebastian’s tickets + job on coaching jumps, if desired)

Spaceland Transitions: All about Canopies! 7.04

Are you ready for the Spaceland Transitions event that’s focused on canopies rather than freefall? I hope so, because it’s going to be AWESOME! As always, this event is free and focused for skydivers with 100 jumps or less. Jumpers visiting from other drop zones are more than welcome. Check out the major features:

1) FREE CANOPY COACHING: The Ratings Center is offering short canopy control seminars to kick off each weekend morning as well as free, personalized, video-assisted instruction for as many new jumpers as he can throughout the day. These awesome coaches will also provide seminars on various canopy topics during any weather holds, so plan to be here regardless of the forecast, because I guarantee you will learn a ton whether you’re jumping or not.

2) SPORT ACCURACY COMPETITION: Let’s test out these new canopy skills in an informal sport accuracy competition across all Spaceland locations! More details to follow!

Sport Accuracy Competition 7.04

Get ready to test out your landing accuracy skills in Spaceland’s fun Sport Accuracy meet! This event is for jumpers of all experience levels across ALL Spaceland drop zones, and it comes with free canopy coaching! The Ratings Center, who holds all of our canopy courses, is graciously donating their time at the target to video EVERY competitor’s landing for coaching and debriefing. Thank you, TRC!
We plan to start the competition Saturday at around 2 pm (giving you some time for practice jumps!). We’ll divide the competitors into three classes as follows:
* Novice: 100 jumps or less before the competition starts
* Intermediate: 101-350 jumps
* Advanced: 351+ jumps
There is NO ENTRY FEE for this meet! Jumps will be done from roughly 5,500 feet and they will be $25 each instead of the regular hop and pop rate (not including gear rental) because of the extra time the plane will spend flying multiple hop and pop passes.
PRIZES:
* Overall winner across all locations: 1 DAY OF FREE JUMPS at the location of your choice! (gear rental/specialty jumps not included).
Per location prizes:
TBA
Good luck and safe landings!

Scrambles! 28.04DZ Events April'18

Scrambles is a fun competition where you get teamed up with other jumpers so all 4 way teams have about the same level of combined skills; a great way to learn about 4-Way and to meet other belly fliers!

We will do 5 rounds and use the intermediate dive pool. We will pass out the draw Saturday morning and teams will be given time to prep the jumps. Teams are chosen at random – pairing an experienced 4-Way team captain with 3 belly flyers of varying levels of experience.

COST: Each participant pays for their own jumps and the team members split the cost of the videographer.

Tina Richards will be organizing the event. She has over 2000 skydives and has competed at Nationals in 4, 8 and 16 way events! There is no registration fee, but PLEASE send an email to Tina (tina_marie_richards@yahoo.com) to reserve your slot — We need a head count so we can make sure we have plenty of coaches and videographers.

Come and have some fun, learn something, make some friends and perhaps start your way to more advanced competition.

AFF – Learn To Skydive 7.04

If you are looking for a challenge and thinking of taking up the sport of skydiving, then the Accelerated FreeFall (AFF) Course is designed for you.

After a full day of theoretical and practical training, you will be ready to make your first skydive. Together with two highly experienced instructors (combined jumps totalling more than 1000 skydives!) you will climb out and exit the aircraft. Your instructors will be there with you in free fall ensuring you open your own parachute and it is deployed safely. You will steer your own parachute, communicating with an instructor on the ground until you are guided in safely to landing.

Your Stage 1 jump is the first step towards becoming an experienced skydiver – the AFF course consists of nine stages in total. AFF students progress at their own rate, and your NSPC instructors will encourage you and develop your flying skills every step of the way.
